RIO DE JANEIRO， Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Teenage sensation Gabriel Jesus has been given Brazil's fabled No. 9 shirt for their World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Colombia next month， the country's football confederation said on Monday.
Jesus will wear the number made famous by legendary figures such as Tostao and Ronaldo， who led the Selecao to World Cup glory in 1970 and 2002 respectively.
As expected， Barcelona forward Neymar was allocated No. 10 while Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho was handed No. 11. Jesus' striker partner Gabriel Barbosa， who last week signed with Inter Milan from Santos， will wear No. 21.
Having joined Manchester City for 27 million pounds from Palmeiras earlier this month， Jesus has led many Brazilian football observers to believe the country's long search for a world-class central striker has ended.

BEIJING， Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing municipal weather bureau said zonal circulation， relatively warm temperatures and high humidity have contributed to the smog that has blanketed the city for the past week.
Zhang Yingjuan， a meteorologist， said the average temperature in Beijing from mid-December to Thursday was minus 2.4 degrees Celsius， 1.6 degrees higher than the same period of an average year.
She said there were also nine foggy days during the period， substantially more than the average of 0.9 days in reference data.
Head of the weather bureau Qiao Lin said zonal circulation helped to keep and increase fog and smog by blocking cold air from entering the city.
Qiao said the static atmosphere prevented pollutants from being dispersed vertically and reduced visibility.
High humidity also provided conditions for particulate matter to absorb moisture and swell， he added.
Beijing is surrounded on three sides by mountains， which keeps cold fronts from entering the city from the west and north， while the south， where most outside pollutants come from， is left vulnerable.
The bureau warned the smog will continue till the weekend and be dispersed by cold air starting Sunday.
NAY PYI TAW， Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi has pledged her commitment to achieving lasting peace in the country in 2017， saying that the country's peace making efforts will meet with success in the year， Myanmar News Agency reported her as reporting Monday.
Speaking at the opening of the National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC) in Nay Pyi Taw Sunday， Suu Kyi said "From this building， we will face the challenge of bringing the country on the right path to the goal of peace and with the help of the people and our good friends in the world who have a genuine goodwill toward the country， we will strive for national reconciliation and peace in the country".
She highlighted the importance of giving rather than taking in making efforts， stressing the need to have honesty and openness in order to build trust which she said is the most important factor for achieving peace.
In retrospect， she said Myanmar had not achieved peace in nearly 70 years since its independence in 1948 due to anger and greed and success will come if the two evils are eliminated or dramatically decreased.
Suu Kyi called on all the people of the country to march with purity of mind toward national reconciliation and peace as from the new year day.
There has already been an NRPC in Yangon chaired by Suu Kyi.
